Your adventure may rest in the hands of robot writers. In fictional books fashioned like the famous children gamebook series “Choose Your Own Adventure,” that is.

The Georgia Institute of Technology is currently developing an artificial intelligence program capable of writing interactive fiction. The program called “Scheherazade-IF” would be similar to Choose Your Own Adventure and Twine, “an open-source tool for telling interactive, nonlinear stories.”
Scheherazade-IF is learning its “craft” by reading and analyzing hundreds of human-made stories. While the AI doesn’t really understand the stories per se, it recognizes key elements and their sequence. The bot has reportedly produced interactive fiction found to be “coherent and engaging.”
“For instance, when it reads a bunch of stories referencing movie popcorn, it learns that popcorn is something people like to buy at the movies, and that they do so before the movie starts.”
