Breaking free from traditional publishing through Xlibris

Hello, I am M.R.LeClere author of the recently released book entitled Vera. I would first like to speak of my experience working with the services provided by Vera. When I first decided to attempt to publish a book, an accomplishment many strive for, I began by submitting my work to traditional publishers. It’s simple really: just look at the title page of any book you have in your home and it will have the name of the publisher, their mailing address, and the e-mail address. I quickly learned that unless you are represented by an agent, the majority of editors won’t even look at your work. This became frustrating to say the least, and to hire an agent required a great deal of time and money with no guarantee that my work would even make it to print.

I began to search for other options. In all honesty, there were about five other companies like Xlibris that I was considering looking into. One day, a consultant from Xlibris called me wanting to know more about my book and what my expectations were. To date, only Xlibris, out of all those I have sent my manuscripts to, contacted me.

Xlibris helped me find out exactly what I wanted and how I would like to see my work revealed to the world. During the weeks of the editing and publishing stages, the team assigned to the project were very attentive to what I had to say. My book was finished near the end of March 2013 and in the month of April, I received my author copy. Finally the months I spent breathing life to fictional characters, in front of my computer, somehow bore fruit.

After its publication, Vera appeared in a book expo in New Jersey on June 4 and 5 this year. It is still too early to say my book is a success, but I have high hopes.
