A father and daughter writing team has taken an adventure every day ever since changes have come into their lives. These changes brought them to co-write a children’s book entitled The Journey with Dad 2.

Xlibris authors Destiny and her father John Constantin live in Lockport, New York and became local authors in December 2013.
Today’s Xlibris guest blogger Destiny talks about her adventures and journeys with her dad.
Unfazed by challenges
Before my father and I started this writing journey, I was born with a rare bone disease that has affected my daily life. I am the type of person who never gives up or lets anything get in my way. When I was younger, I faced many challenges going through elementary and high school. I still do to this day. I have been bullied because of my size, the way I walked, and many other things. I have always had support from my wonderful parents, and my closest friends. Going through many obstacles inspired me to become an elementary teacher, and I recently graduated with my associate degree in childhood education from Niagara County Community College.
Two years ago I became really sad when I had to take a semester off from college, because I found out that my bone disease is progressing and causing many medical problems. In March of 2013, I was faced with news that I never wanted to hear. I became wheelchair bound. When summer came, I said, “Dad, I can’t stay home anymore.” My father and I came back to NCCC together in fall of 2013, and this is when the writing journey began.
Blessed with a supportive father
John Constantin, a loving father and husband to my mother Tina Constantin, came back to college with me to make sure I was safe and didn’t have any problems getting around school. My dad had to take a writing class, and one day he was in the Writing Center just typing away, and a bonus essay came out. He showed me his essay and I had wonderful ideas. My father and I collaborated our ideas and created a five-star rating children’s book called “The Journey with Dad.” We got the idea of publishing our work with the help of our professor, Dr. Denise David. We started researching publishing companies, and we found Xlibris. Xlibris loved our idea and helped us bring our story to life. My dad didn’t think he could make one of his daughter’s dreams come true, or create something incredible, all while overcoming some part of his learning disability. I said, “I thank God every day that I have such loving, amazing parents.” He just graduated from Niagara County Community College with a digital media certificate. I am very proud of my father.
