Xlibris Author LeTavious Hemingway Brown Turns Dream into a Book

What started out as a dream one night inspired Xlibris author LeTavious Hemingway Brown to write his debut novel Sacred Swords. Making his literary pursuit even more special, the dream was about his fiancée who represents one of the characters in this fantasy fiction book.

The man behind Xlibris author LeTavious Hemingway Brown

My name is LeTavious Roymar Hemingway-Brown, but I go by the pen name LeTavious Hemingway Brown. I’m a 2010 graduate from Morris College with a Bachelors degree in Biology, and a strong desire to write any and everything that pops into my head,  be it a poem or story. I’m engaged to the world’s most gorgeous woman, my personal Goddess Devin Vestal. Having a dream about her is actually what sparked my book Sacred Swords. It’s also why she’s one of the characters.

I’ve been writing probably all my life, but it started off as short stories, and soon developed into poetry and finally novel-length stories. I just sit and think, and then eventually a paper is coated with my influence. When I’m not writing, I work as a full time Veterinary Technician at The Pet Doctor in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I’ve always had a passion to making others happy through helping their animals, and entertaining through my written work.

Literary influences

I’m influenced by great writing in general. It doesn’t have to be an author. I’ve read things my mother has written in the past and it has inspired me. But if I had to pick a set list of authors, I’d have to go with Greg Iles, Ted Dekker, Rick Riordan, Lloyd Alexander, and T.A. Baron. Without their books, I would’ve never even tried to write one of my own and possibly influence others like they have done to me.

About his Xlibris book

Sacred Swords is a fantasy fiction book about Leon and Devin who are charged with the task of saving the world from a dark entity bent on enslaving the world for his own simple pleasures. They are two normal college kids enjoying their final spring break in school when they have two Sacred Swords bestowed to them, Hurricane and Soleil. Once they have their swords in hand, the action and threats continue to pile on as they must grow stronger to combat them.

Writing inspiration

I was inspired to write this book by a dream I had one night. The actual prologue of the book is the dream I had in written form. It took me about a year to finish the book because I had to sneak time in to write when I wasn’t working or doing school work.

Message to readers

The story is good in my opinion, and I only want the world to see it. Give it a chance and I bet it’ll make you laugh, and enjoy the action

Thoughts on self-publishing

My favorite part about the self-publishing was the fact that it’s all my work. Nobody changed anything and I was consulted about every single part. It’s definitely the way to go.

Words of encouragement to aspiring authors

If you aspire to be an author, then write. That’s all there is to it. Write the way you see fit with no one trying to tell you how anything should go. You were given the talent to create so never let anyone corrupt it.

Sequel in the works

I am working on a sequel to Sacred Swords, it’s actually titled “Sacred Swords: Revelations.” It takes place about four years after the resolution of the first story. Many things have changed, and the threats are even greater this time. This story takes a darker approach to the Sacred Swords Universe.

Book marketing

I’ve been self promoting the book as of now, No future events have been planned, but they are being discussed. For any further info you can visit our page on Facebook, www.facebook.com/SacredSwords
