Xlibris Author M.R. LeClere Turns Rich Imagination into Fantasy Fiction- Part 2

Xlibris fantasy author M.R. LeClere shares the synopsis of his book Vera. This Xlibris Blog sequel also reveals how his prolific imagination gave birth to the story.

Vera overview

Now onto the fun part. The book is centered on a female character that I have created in short stories that I scratched down on notebook paper and shared with my friends and family over the past few years. After hearing questions like, “How did you come up with her?” and “Where did she come from?” I decided to embark on a full blown storytelling of how she came to be.

Vera is a young elven girl who was raised by a human adventurer. The man she calls father, Darrius, discovered her as a baby on his travels and took her in as his own. He raised her in a cabin far in the woods away from prying eyes and those he feels will harm her. Unfortunately for him, the life span of humans is far shorter than that of the elves. He knows that she can’t stay in the cabin for the rest of her life and he begins to feel the strains of time and age weighing him down. Darrius decides to teach her all he knows about the outside world by showing her the paths she will have to take to make her way back the city of the elves.

Near the cabin is a small village where a young man by the name of Timble lives and works with his father in a small lumber mill. Timble dreams of leaving the small village and moving to one of the human cities in order to make a name for himself. However, he is ignorant to the outside world as well, but that isn’t going to stop him from leaving come spring. He is a distant friend of Vera’s and when the opportunity arises, he is more than willing to accompany her on her journey. Vera will find out quickly that in order to make it to her unknown home, she will need all the help she can get.

Not long after they leave the village, they meet a man known as Captain Tanner. Tanner is a seasoned veteran of combat. He longs for the days of glory and heroes, but during his tenure as Captain of the guard in the city of Murth, there has been a long time of peace. In fact there hasn’t been a large-scale war in the world for nearly a century. When he comes across the path of the young elf, he learns of her intentions to return to her homeland. He sees it as an opportunity to grab onto a bit of glory and honor he so wishes he could have had during his years of service.

Though the intention of the book is not to be centered on pain and sorrow, there is a fair share of it. As the old sayings go, “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger” and “The world will hit like a ton of bricks, but it’s not how hard you can hit back it’s how hard you can be hit and keep moving forward.”

I would like to encourage fantasy fiction lovers to get a copy of my book and hope that you enjoy. I also invite you to like Vera on Facebook and give your reviews and critic, good or bad.

Thank you all and remember worlds begin when pencil is put to paper.
