Xlibris Author| JR Gonzalez Pt II

Xlibris Publishing returns with JR Gonzalez, author of The Lingstroms, Esmerelda’s Web, and The Opened Window.

What inspired you to write your books?

Xlibris Author| JR GonzalezMy books are inspired by life, what I see and what I’ve been through, my nightmares and my family history are all in there, people walk up to me and ask, “Where do you get this ____? and it makes me laugh but I don’t have an answer, its just out there and it comes to me. I have three other books ready to publish and about seven more after that, because I love being a writer.

What is the one message you would like to convey to your readers?

If there is a message I would like to convey its that we need to remember what’s important to us, there will always be a better house, a faster car, a “spiffier” lifestyle, but there will always only be one mother, one family. That we need to find a better way to resolve our differences.

Are there any events, marketing ideas or promotions planned for your book?

I don’t have any events planned at this time, my marketing promotion so far has been thus:

Xlibris Author| JR GonzalezI published “Esmeralda’s Web” through a publisher that ran off with everyone’s money in the middle of the night, they wanted to do it in two volumes, to me that’s making my readers pay twice for the same story and I didn’t like it but went along.

When they left us in the lurch, I had 250 copies of that book that I can’t sell because they went belly up; I decided to give those copies away and they have scattered across a large area in Los Angeles County, from the “lending libraries” in Pasadena it has been spread around a lot, asked for more from there. I’ve given copies to libraries and when my band plays music. I give them away afterwards and sign them.

It has generated a lot of interest in the book,  but so far I don’t know how much because it has only been available as a full volume for a few weeks. I talk to EVERYBODY I can about it, everywhere I go because no one believes in it as much as I do, and no one will push it as hard either.

I once donated a book to a school my grandchildren attended, and though there were several expensive items, leather jackets, fancy dinners and such, my book raised more than any other single item.

Xlibris Author| JR Gonzalez I have been told by a woman that runs a blog about scary fiction, she writes about vampires for a living and told me that “everyone has written a vampire story for as long as we can remember, but I’ve never read a vampire story like yours!” which I took as extremely high praise. (The Lingstroms, available now from Xlibris.

What was your favorite part of your publishing experience, overall and with Xlibris?

My favorite part of being published by Xlibris was holding the actual book in my hand, seeing the posters and the business cards and knowing they are doing what they promised makes me proud and gives me inspiration to write more, to finish the other novels I have in my head.
