In this sequel, Xlibris author Julián Laboy talks about his decision to self-publish with Xlibris and shares rave reviews about his book.

Self-publishing with Xlibris, reader reviews
Because I wanted to paint my own picture of Taoism and have as much creative permit as I can, I decided to self-publish From Tao to Psychology. The book was initially a thesis from a graduate program I had in my country, Puerto Rico. There has been so little communication between Psychology and Taoism that I decided to publish and extend that thesis.
I chose Xlibris as my publishing house. I’ll be very frank: I did so because there was a special discount on publishing. Also, they looked professional enough to meet my expectations.
After getting through my language barrier, (I am not used to write in English) I published the book, and I was very happy. The cover design has a picture of a very beautiful bridge that symbolizes the meeting point between East and West, shot by a Romanian friend. With that design and with Xlibris’ quality services, the book turned out to be very appealing. All that I needed to find out was if the public would accept my book.
It turned out that people did like From Tao to Psychology. The book ended up being a finalist at the 2013 Next Generation Indie Book Awards and I received very good reviews. For example, I found on a Taoist blog that my “[…]information is solid and trustworthy” and that the blogger “[…] really enjoyed the whole journey”.
Reviews at Amazon said: “It is a must-read and a great contribution by the author to western understanding of far eastern thought. I certainly enjoyed reading it,” and “I really recommend this book as an introduction for beginners and also for those who have read extensively about its ideas. Truly a great contribution to collaborations between Eastern and Western perspective,” among others.
All in all, the product turned out better than expected and I am very glad that with my partnership with Xlibris, I was able to communicate my ideas about Taoism and Psychology, and the even bigger relationship between East and West.
