Xlibris Author Lundon Albrecht discovered a penny’s true worth. The usually considered worthless copper brown coin revealed a story he believed was worth telling the world.
Also a General Dentist by profession, he realized, however, that proclaiming his tale was like pulling teeth. At least that was what he thought until Xlibris Publishing saved the day.

Lundon chose the leading Indiana-based publishing company to realize his writing dream and publish his debut children’s book I’m Not Just A Penny in November 2012. The Xlibris Blog brings you another inspirational author story that started with rummaging through his son’s used diapers in the garbage to look for a lost penny.
Discovering a Penny’s Worth in a Diaper
When my son was 18 months old, he swallowed a penny. After a long night in the Emergency Room, the doctors released us after determining that my son did not swallow a penny because there was no evidence of the coin on any radiograph. When we got home that night, my wife went through the garbage, she went through every old diaper, and recovered the swallowed penny! This event made me realize that every penny has a story.
About the Xlibris Book
Lundon has not only come up with an original story but also a clever way to teach children the expression, “A penny saved is a penny earned.”

I’m Not Just A Penny is a story about a penny that was owned by some of America’s most influential people. From Babe Ruth to Albert Einstein the penny recalls all of his adventures with his famous owners.
Extracting Tooth vs. Publishing
I am a General Dentist in Mentor, Ohio, US. Being able to extract a tooth and publish a children’s book are two entirely different things! Unless you have connections in the writing industry, extracting a tooth is easier.
Publishing with Xlibris
Ideally, I wanted my book to be published by Scholastic Incorporated because it is so great for the elementary classroom. However, when I called them to ask about getting it published, they said, “unless you’ve published before, you can’t publish with us”. Being a Dentist, I did not know where to turn. I had a great story, a great idea, but no publisher.
Then, I found Xlibris. They provided me with a project manager and Illustrator to help my story become a published children’s book. When I received my first copy, I was amazed! To see this story about a penny come to life was remarkable!
Book Marketing with a Noble Purpose
I have since read my book to numerous schools in Northeastern Ohio. It continues to be a hit with the teachers! Before I leave each school, I give each child a brand new shiny penny, so they can be the first owner of their penny. They then do a writing activity about “where they will take their penny.” Thus confirming, every penny has a story!
Xlibris author Lundon Albrecht truly deserves the Xlibris Blog’s spotlight for his enthusiasm, dedication to impart good values to children, and his novel book marketing approach.
