Xlibris Publishing returns with Jacqueline Watkins, author of Bobby’s Bully.
I have been so surprised and blessed with the response for Bobby’s Bully so far! I recently had a book signing at L’Dior boutique in Conway, Arkansas. It was a great experience to see so many supporters and friends. We were also invited to be guest on two local Little Rock, Arkansas radio stations. First was a live interview with Broadway Joe on KOKY 102.1 FM and another interview with their sister station 102.5 Praise FM with Billy St. James. We really appreciated the opportunity to speak to a larger audience about our book and the positive message we hoped to relay. Additionally, we have been published in more than a few newspaper articles: The KATY News, Katy Texas and several local surrounding news papers including: the Cleveland County Herald of Rison Arkansas, the Fordyce Arkansas newspaper, The Connection, a newspaper of Baptist Health Medical Center of Little Rock Arkansas, the Cabin newspaper of Conway Arkansas, Saline Courier of Benton Arkansas, and participated in couple of face to face interviews with the Saline Courier and The Camden News in Camden, AR.
This book can be purchased through my website www.bobbysbully.com, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and is available through iTunes as an e-book. I have also rejoined social media as a way of continuing to spread the word about the book. I have found Facebook and Instagram to be especially helpful with marketing. I have really enjoyed shooting live videos to stream on Facebook as it has been a great tool to help me practice my public speaking, which is one of my growth edges.
Since nursing has been my primary career focus, I went into this feeling I didn’t know much about how to actually publish anything. I was so grateful to have found Xlibris. With the help of Xlibris, I was able to better understand all that goes into the completion of a book. This company allowed me to share my voice in a way that felt authentic to me. From all the emails, rough drafts, feedback, edits, illustrations, I’ve been thoroughly impressed with how promptly and meticulously they responded. I built great rapport and trust with them as they held my hand throughout the entire process of bringing my characters to life and spreading my message.
Writing this book for me was all in God’s plan from the beginning. I took a leap of faith and just started writing before I even had a chance to do research on the writing process. When I first started this project, I had no idea what kind of time and effort it would take to fine tune this project, and there were several times I felt like giving up, but I never did. My best advice is to always write with love and passion and don’t forget to utilize all the resources available to you.
Often the best resources are your family and friends. I’ve learned through this process that I had a supportive team right at my fingertips. I owe and give credit to these wonderful people especially my very good friend, psychologist, Dr. Simone Collins. Her input, suggestions, constructive critiques helped me to improve my new found talent. Give thanks to your #1 supporters because they will be there for you when others close doors or simply aren’t interested.
Please don’t let negative responses be a deterrent and instead use the criticism to fuel your passion and drive. Again, this all took off very fast for me, but if it doesn’t happen for you this way, please be patient with the process. If you do your research and utilize the authors learning center for help, which I now use nearly every day, you are bound to succeed. Make the most of this process and enjoy every bit of it, you never know where your writing will take you and I’m living proof of that. Best of luck to you in your many endeavors.
