I am Emmy Ayarza author, wife, mother, and grandmother. I have written close to fifty books and have published several through Xlibris. I have been asked to answer a few questions about my latest published book A New World Evolves.
I describe A New World Evolves as a science fiction story about a family that was trying to survive on Earth when the infrastructure disappeared and they were forced to deal with the new world where they now lived. They found a device in their struggle that led them to spaceships that the government had developed in anticipation of the disaster of atomic or hydrogen bomb destruction on Earth. They are led to the spaceships and find other survivors along the way that help them in their evacuation of Earth to Mars where the government had developed a new colony destination based on their intention to continue Earth’s species of life.
I was influenced to write science fiction by my grandmother who wrote articles for a newspaper in Idaho and my mother who embraced anything and everything as possible. I was raised on a ranch and my mother’s family owns a family homestead in southern Idaho. My western influence and upbringing have influenced me to write science fiction, western, suspense, drama, and mysteries. I started writing in school where I found I enjoyed English, drama, and music. I was a withdrawn child and had difficulty walking and keeping my bottom off the ground. I later found my hip had been broken when I was a toddler and no one seemed to know it had happened. The result of that fracture and my active ranch life led me to write to help control the pain when I had to have both hips replaced and found I was allergic to many pain medications. I started controlling some of my pain by playing video games and it helped. I was playing a Sims game when it had in the game the career of author. I became interested in writing seeing it as a career in the game.
What inspired me to write A New World Evolves was watching a science fiction movie that wasn’t very believable and my family member said if you can write something better then do it. I started writing that very day and found it controlled my pain better than any other mind occupying activity I had tried, and I have been writing ever since. This story was completed in five months. I have written some that took over a year and some that were complete in just a few months. My first books were rather long as I didn’t know for certain how long a story should be and in what format to write a book. So I wrote in the format I knew at first, and that was administrative report style.
The one message I would like to convey to my readers is to reach out and embrace everything you experience as you never know what will inspire and help you in the future.
If this book inspires a sequel then it will appear.
There are no events I have planned other than answering any questions anyone asks finding me on Facebook or through amazon.com. I am disabled and limited to how much I can travel or participate but I would gladly sign any books sent to me with return postage and answer questions about my books. I also have limited funds so cannot pay for expensive marketing of my books. It is not my intention to publish them when I am writing them. My intent in writing was and is to control my pain and emerge my mind in the story giving me pain relief. I also put messages, recipes, healing secrets, and life experiences in my stories inspired by real experiences and stories told to me. I hope one day my grandchildren, friends, and readers see the messages I have sent in my stories.
My favorite part of my publishing experience was the learning process. Xlibris was my first publishing experience and they helped me learn how to find my own style and edit my books better. Each book I edited and put into what I call author format I learned from. Xlibris convinced me to publish my books for my family’s sake as that was not my intention in writing. Xlibris representatives assured me my stories and style was unique and should be shared.
The advice I would give aspiring authors is to keep writing. A book you can’t finish just needs editing and a story can emerge you will find enjoyable. You must first like your own story as you will find you need to edit it over and over. Each time I would edit I would get engrossed by the story and forget I was editing. That is when I realized it was a good story. Keep writing until you can read it and be surprised how good it is every time you read it.
