The 50th anniversary of the Man Booker Prize will see some of the greatest and most acclaimed works of fiction from across a half-century, go head to head.
A recent article of The Guardian celebrates and elaborates on the 50th anniversary of the Man Book Prize, one of the most prestigious book awards for fiction in the United Kingdom. To commemorate 50 years of honoring and awarding great authors and contributions to literature, the Man Booker Prize has announced that it will award the “Golden” Man Booker Prize.
This one-time-only award will go to, out of 51 prior winners, the book recognized as the finest work of fiction in the past half-century. The 51 potential winners will be judged by five luminaries in the field of writing, each judge sifting through the winners of each decade during which the Man Booker Prize has been awarded. These five judges consist of Robert McCrum, the Observer’s former writer and head literary editor, Lem Sissay the poet, Kamila Shamsie the novelist, Simon Mayo, broadcaster and novelist, and finally the poet Holly McNish.
