Xlibris Publishing introduces JA Bullen, author of Beyond the Amaranthine Veil.
About the Book
In Beyond the Amaranthine Veil readers will journey through a small part of the world of Anon, a vast, magical world, forged long ago by the Amaranthine. Centuries ago, an event called “The Great Convergence,” created links between countless worlds, giving birth to both monstrous beasts and magic.
In present day Anon, the balance of power between the worlds magical and mundane, is maintained by a controversial order of magical beings, known as the Cabal. Templars are defenders of Cabal sorcerers, men and women alike, but are met with great disdain by the outside world for being slayers of monsters, mages, and men.
Now, Tristan, far removed from the life of Templar, must romance and defend his lover, after the enemies of his long career resurface.
About the Author
I am a lover of adventure, fantasy, science fiction, and life in general. I am a father, a husband, storyteller and a dreamer. I do believe in true love, and the possibility of two people, overcoming insurmountable odds, for no other reason than to find one another. I have been dreaming about magical worlds, ever since I began playing with Legos. I wrote my first novel at the age of 8, and may eventually translate it into something that makes sense.
Influences and Inspirations
Honestly, as far as influences, I do not like to delve too much, until I have a clear idea of my stories identity. My work is a lot like my child, I want it/her to be true to itself/herself. I do not want to diminish what and who they are, simply because of my preferences. Once I have that, I am a huge lover of Stephen King, Rick Riordan, Joseph Delaney, Jim Butcher and of course, the master himself, Tolkien. I am also die hard anime and RPG fan. If it has a compelling story, I am sold.
As far as inspiration, after I “met” my book, and grew acquainted with its characters, I fell back on my love of role playing games and anime. Whenever I felt less inspired, I would play or read The Witcher, or watch a few of my favorite shows. My go tos are “Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon,” “Sword Art Online,” and “The Tower of Druaga.” All in all, I believe that from the time I first dreamt of Tristan, Kirin, Moira and the world of Anon, to the time the book was completed was 6-8 months.
Message to Readers
To my readers, I want you to know that even in the darkest of times, the bleakest and most despairing moments of our future, past and present, we can choose to be a light in this world. It does not matter what we are told, what happens to us, or the challenges we face. We choose who we are.
About Sequels
I am working on several sequels, actually. The story of Tristan Stryfe is far from over. Also, I am working on a young adult, low to high fantasy series, detailing Gael and Gabriel’s time at the Cabal, learning to become Templar and Sorcerer, respectively. Anon is ripe with many more characters, who shall see their day in the spotlight, but as of now, I am working on these two.
About Upcoming Events
In celebration of this release, I have given away my older work for free on Kindle. I will also drop the price of the ebooks to $1.99 in the near future. I love wandering through bookstores and as such, am in the process of setting book signings for this release.
About Publishing with Xlibris
Working with Xlibris, has been a trying experience for all the right reasons. I have had the opportunity to work with industry pros, who have helped me to determine some of my own weaknesses in this venture of mine. I daresay, the single greatest experience of this launch, has been learning some of my limitations and growing as an author.
Advice to Fellow Authors
To my fellow authors, my message is simple. Write what drives your emotions; your deepest desires, greatest fears, and most agonizing heartbreaks. What inspires, terrifies or wounds the author, will also affect the reader.
