Xlibris Author| David Goldstein, The Third Eye

Xlibris Publishing introduces David Goldstein, author of The Third Eye.

Xlibris Author| David Goldstein, The Third EyeMy name is David Goldstein and my book is entitled The Third Eye.

The Third Eye is presented as the translation of a manuscript published by an extraterrestrial, who is a citizen of the Galactic Union.  The fictional author attempts to explain the tragic consequences resulting from first contact with the inhabitants of Earth. He traces the genesis of this event through an historical adventure novel spanning several generations prior to the event.

I am a retired engineer and university professor and now have time to write in my favorite genre, which I have enjoyed since I was a teenager. This is the second novel I have published (The first is entitled ‘Farm Team’. No, it is not a baseball story. It covers another well-worn SF theme: Conquest of Earth and subsequent rebellion).

As I said, I became engrossed with science fiction many years ago. At that time, my favorite authors were Ray Bradbury and A. C. Clarke. Both of them wrote very believable stories with characters one could understand. At that time stories concerned primarily with BEMs (bug-eyed monsters) were considered childish at best.

I suppose I’m kind of old fashioned to still prefer their style. My ET characters are not superior beings or totally evil. They have foibles, weaknesses and noble aspirations (just like the mix found in humans).

Xlibris Author| David Goldstein, The Third EyeThe theme of my current novel concerns racial discrimination that takes place within a supposedly enlightened culture. The reasons for this are explored through the experiences of the major characters and eventually leads to the disastrous first contact.

Thinking about first contact, I realized that most of the first contacts by various people with explorers generally were disasters. Why shouldn’t that same outcome result from extraterrestrial contact?

As an additional feature of the story I added a new method of space travel. I could have used wormholes, faster than light speed engines, etc. Instead I proposed a new method known as “timeline travel”.  In fact two of the major characters are proficient at navigating timelines.

I hope that some readers will enjoy reading about ET’s with human weaknesses and similar motivations. Or is that passé?

As I said this is my second novel. I found the experience of publishing with Xlibris to be easier and smoother than with my previous publisher. Surprisingly the cost is not much different. I particularly like the Author Solution concept and would appreciate any comments (positive or negative) from any members.

It took me several months to write this novel. However, the concepts had been geminating for years. I would not rush to commit something to print. However until you actually begin to write your hypothesis is ethereal. You have to commit your thoughts to paper before the perception can be reduced to reality.
