SM Williams, Look How The Ice Cream Has Melted

Xlibris Publishing is happy to introduce SM Williams, author of Look How The Ice Cream Has Melted.

Please briefly describe your book?

Look How The Ice Cream Has Melted is an exciting Children’s story of an adventure where ‘Freddie’ is trying desperately to keep the chocolate ice cream that he loves frozen; so that it doesn’t melt.  Freddie finds himself travelling to The North Pole and The South Pole but soon realises that Mummy is right!

Do you have any particular literary influences that have helped you develop in your genre, subject and style?

Look How The Ice Cream Has Melted by SM WilliamsThis book is dedicated to my one and only Grandpa: My special fella. Grandpa always said that I made people smile and laugh, and so I decided to show my personality through story telling. I am a fun loving, playful soul releasing my inner child, showing the innocence of make believe through stories. Stories that make a difference to the way your child thinks!

What inspired you to write your book, and how long did it take you to finish it?

Freddie my 3-year old son inspired me to write me my book because at the end of the day the children are our future. Remember the days when you would play pretend for hours on end. It was so easy and natural to be creative and dream up adventure. It is important to try to keep our inner child playful, to nurture ourselves and to dream our dreams and believe in them! The story took from start to finish roughly three months once I had the idea, the manuscript was submitted and the illustrations were approved.

What is the one message you would like to convey to your readers?

Look How The Ice Cream Has Melted by SM WilliamsThe moral of the story is to enjoy and live for the moment and to try each and every new adventure. Accepting that some things in life are bound to happen; and that we cannot control the outcome of an inevitable situation, this book for example teaches children about loss and that nothing will last forever. The ice cream was always going to melt….

Are you working on a sequel to your book?

Yes! My next book Look How The Bubbles Have Burst carries a similar message and will be available from early 2017.

Are there any events, marketing ideas or promotions planned for your book?

Yes! My book is already selling through my social media and I am working with Ice Cream parlours, primary schools, nurseries, libraries and children’s hospitals. I will be book signing, reading and selling books at these venues before Christmas.

What was your favourite part of your publishing experience, overall and with Xlibris?

From start to finish I have found all members of staff with Xlibris professional and helpful, it has been fast and seamless! My favourite part was seeing the illustrations…seeing my book come to life was an amazing experience.

Finally, what advice would you give to aspiring authors?

Follow your dreams! If I can get published; anyone can!
